Love to sing and dance, but find acting a challenge? Then our Acting for Musical Theatre Workshop is for you.
Our workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of stagecraft, script work and the unique challenges of acting in Musical Theatre. You will explore ways to approach and analyse scripts, create effective characters and interact with other actors in the scene. And to top it off, our course is led by award-winning performer and City Academy MT Companies director, Robert Hazle. Our workshop is open to everyone but best suited to people who have already had the experience of Musical Theatre and wish to develop their acting skills.
What will be taught on the Acting for Musical Theatre Workshop
The course will cover a range of carefully selected material to ensure it is challenging, varied, and above all, enjoyable.
Course content will include:
- Build confidence in using and preparing a script for an audition or performance.
- Explore ways of creating believable, successful characters with clear motivations.
- Practice vocal and stagecraft skills.
- Challenge yourself to make bold choices.
- Perform dramatic scenes with other actors.

A speech from a musical or play with music. Please bring a printed copy of the text.Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water.
Entry requirements and level of this course?
This course is suitable for complete beginners and those who possess a passion and curiosity to learn more about acting.
Students will learn about the fundamentals of stagecraft, script work and the unique challenges of acting in Musical Theatre.
The ability to hear notes and sing them back as well as good spoken and written English is required.
