Advanced Scene Study for the Professional Actor

This is our most advanced acting course, designed for the professional, working or auditioning actor who seeks to take their work to the next level. Explore your artistic growth with an industry professional such as a casting director, agent, director, or producer.

This course requires early sign up as participating students will be allocated a partner a few weeks in advance.

Course Structure

• You and a partner will be given a 10-20 minute scene from a play or film to work on and present in class. 
• After a preliminary zoom meet, all students are expected to prepare their scene as they would were they working on it professionally. This includes reading and having a good understanding of the full script, arriving for the first day of class completely off-book, well-rehearsed, with props and costumes for your initial scene showing. 
• Then the fun begins! The first round of scenes will be presented on either the Monday or the Tuesday. You will present your allocated scene on your allocated day as you have worked on it. 
• The scene will then be workshopped with you for a period of 45 minutes to an hour, during which time you will receive in-depth, personalised feedback, and your areas for future focus will be addressed. 
• While you will only be acting on either the Monday or the Tuesday, it should be noted that you are required to be present and active in listening and note-taking even on the days you are not presenting. This is important as you will learn much through observation given the deep nature in which participants will be working with the course instructor. 
• On the third and fourth day of class, you will similarly present your scene again, incorporating notes or exercises given in the previous days. 
• It is expected that all students will rehearse their scene outside of class, and that progress is made between your first and second showing. 
• The second showing is where the magic happens! After presenting your scene a second time, the scene might be further workshopped, and your next steps next steps for the progression of your craft will be discussed.  
• On the fifth day of class the scenes will be shown in a seamless formal presentation to a small, invited audience. 
• Enjoy a Q&A between with the course leader, and the invited member of the industry.
