With our American Accent Training, you will learn to speak with a general american accent - the Received Pronunciation (RP) of the United States and one of the most important accents for any performer to have in his/her repertoire.
Within this accent lesson, you’ll explore the strong, confident and muscular vocal energy which is so fundamental to this accent by engaging with its resonance and placement. You’ll work creatively in a group at sounding and feeling American; by including body work, exploring terminology and ‘give away’ sounds.
Areas covered include:
- Breath and body work to create a ‘whole accent’
- Facial movements/ muscle patterns
- Sound placement/resonant focus
- Mirror work
- Sound recording analysis
- Exploring key vowel and consonant changes physically; analysing tongue and mouth movement
- USA glossary and ‘give away sounds’
- Script work to enhance the accuracy and freedom of the accent
