Immerse yourself in advanced Contemporary Dance training, carefully curated by renowned industry professionals.
This workshop is fast paced and aims to improve stamina through precise and simple movement patterns. The principles of this workshop are influenced by a diversity of traditional forms such as Kathak, Flamenco and Martial Arts, which are brought into a contemporary dance context, with the help of specialist tutors and choreographers.
This is an energetic workshop, focusing on intention, clarity and extreme physicality.
Advanced
Contemporary dance with a sub focus on Kathak, Flamenco and Martial Arts.
Water bottle and a small hand towel
This workshop will begin with an initial warm up, followed by a more complex movement material and a dynamic focus on the concept of “attack and release”. The technique allows joints to relax and energy to flow with maximum efficiency. Counts help to influence the dynamic of the movement and spinning engages the core. All of this work will prepare your body for travel, exploring the broadest movement in space, whilst making fast, clean transitions from large to detailed movement.
For more intense training you can audition for Jose Agudo's longer form course, When West Meets East - Contemporary Dance 3 Months.
Throughout the course, you will benefit from José Agudo's extensive expertise, gaining insights into choreographic approaches that seamlessly fuse these diverse movement forms

All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
