In just one day, your team will travel from pre-production through to filming as you come together to create your cinematic masterwork. Thriller, horror, comedy, drama, mockumentary – you choose! The day is focused 100% on your team and tailored to suit them, under the creative guidance of seasoned industry professionals. All you’ll need is yourself – City Academy will provide state-of-the-art cameras, sound and lighting equipment, and film locations in an area to suit you.

Pick a genre and work together as a team to create and shoot your very own film trailer or short film from scratch. Led by a professional filmmaker you’ll work in crews of 6-10 people as you bring your visual creation to life… over just one day!
Why make a Film?
Bringing a creative vision to life is an absorbing and inspiring experience. This team building activity aims to build confidence and boost team morale, allowing participants to share the experience of exploring new roles including acting, writing, filming and editing.
Your team will have to support one another and will leave the workshop with a tangible, unique product of their own. It is an excellent leveller – CEOs become sound-recordists, graduates become Film Directors and siloed teams are compelled to communicate on a set creative project outside of their regular routine.
There are three phases to this 1-day activity: pre-production, filming, and post production. The experience takes 5-6 hours and can be delivered wherever it suits you. What should I bring?
Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes they can move around freely in. Filming will also take place outside so please dress accordingly.

Can this be done in less than a day?
Film in a Day takes a minimum of 5 hours. There's a lot involved and the day is varied, rich and rewarding.
Are your venues accessible?
We work with a variety of partner venues around London many of which are accessible. If you, a colleague or employee has specific requirements, please make us aware upon booking to ensure we can find a venue suitable for you.
Do you have a minimum age requirement?
Our public courses are for over 18s. For 1-2-1 tuition or private classes, participants can be any age. Content can be shaped to be age and experience appropriate.
Is there much prep beforehand?
Some teams prefer to arrange a short pre-production workshop where you can choose genres and begin planning your shoot. This adds to the day but isn't obligatory.
How large a group can you accommodate?
We can run Film in a Day for any size group. Large groups are split into film crews of 6-10 people.
