Impax Asset Management: Film in a Day
The Brief
Impax Asset Management’s Executive team is comprised of experts in Environmental Science, Energy, Asset Management, Finance and more. These senior individuals are leaders in their respective fields and were seeking a creative and thought-proving day away from the office as dedicated time to connect with one another on a personal level.
With this in mind, City Academy suggested the ‘Film in a Day’ team building experience with the aim to give the group opportunities to think differently and work together on an enjoyable and inventive challenge.
What Did We Do?
City Academy set the group on a task to create a trailer in a genre of their choice from concept to completion: ‘Thriller’ was quickly settled upon.
Guided by expert film-makers, the group was required to come together within the context of particular roles. There was flexibility to switch roles during the day so every person was actively involved in the process and had to opportunity to learn about the film equipment. Through imaginative and collaborative thinking, the team worked together developing the characters, plot and film scenes. The event was hosted in Soho so following pre-production, the team was able to bring their story to life by filming out on the streets and at vibrant Central London locations.
Many of the participants commented that they were placed outside of their comfort zone but by the end of the day felt they had genuinely achieved something together. In addition to providing a team-building exercise, the group shared a sense of real accomplishment, particularly when the clips were watched back. Members of the team had discovered the enjoyment which can come from both initiating creative ideas and also relying on someone else’s leadership.
It was fantastic to see individuals find pleasure in learning something new and taking ownership of different roles within the group.
