The Big Dance Bus
Jubilee Hall Trust
City Academy was commissioned to help the staff at Jubilee Hall Trust create an event to engage the public.
The mission was to demonstrate how dance is a fun and lively way to exercise. Given a place in the Piazza of Covent Garden, City Academy trained staff at the Trust to perform a routine from Michael Jackson’s Thriller and then conducted open classes for the gathered crowds.
The Brief
Ahead of a public performance with the Big Dance Bus in Covent Garden, The Head of Dance at City Academy taught a group of office-based managers to dance – to help them lead by example!
The group were given multiple training sessions to learn, follow and carry out a routine.
"Throughout the practice, the tutor was inspirational and enthusiastic, taking time to correct individual faults and to perfect technique, and giving praise and encouragement to those of us with less of a dance background! The whole experience brought us all closer together as a team and even the reluctant participants were on a real high after we nailed the performance in front of hundreds of people in the Covent Garden Piazza!
Thanks to City Academy, we did something many of us didn’t think was possible."
