With a repertoire spanning classical, musical theatre, pop, and gospel, Voices offers the perfect balance of vocal challenge, creativity, and community.
Led by Musical Director Nicole Wakabayashi, members rehearse weekly to refine technique, expand their repertoire, and build vocal confidence, all while connecting with like-minded singers in a welcoming and supportive environment. Twice a year, you’ll step onto a London stage to perform in unforgettable concerts that showcase your progress and passion for singing.

The City Academy Voices is headed by Nicole Wakabayashi.
Nicole is an American pianist, keyboardist, and music director based in London. Formerly Head of Performing Arts at Notre Dame School of Manhattan, she was named one of Yamaha’s ‘40 Under 40’ in 2023 for excellence in music education. She holds degrees from NYU and USC, having studied with Alexander Kobrin and Daniel Pollack. Nicole has performed internationally at venues including NPR’s Tiny Desk, the Apollo Theater, SXSW London, and festivals across Europe. She also sings with The Epiphoni Consort, recent winners of the Grand Prix at the Tallinn International Choir Competition. Nicole is currently developing her debut EP and brings a deep commitment to inclusive and empathetic music-making.
Voices is open to singers of all genders and voice types, aged 18+, who want to sing a variety of styles in a contemporary choir setting.
No formal audition is required. During your taster session, the Musical Director will hear you sing in a relaxed setting to assess your ability and range.
The repertoire spans classical, musical theatre, pop, and gospel, giving you variety and vocal versatility.
Some prior experience is helpful, but you don’t need to be a professional. The choir is designed for singers who want to develop their voice and enjoy performing as part of a group.
You’ll perform in two concerts per year on a London stage, alongside your fellow choir members.
