City Academy Encore - Taster

Welcome to the taster booking page for City Academy Encore. Headed by Resident Musical Director Aaron Nice , members of City Academy Encore attend weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evening’s and learn songs from many of your favourite award winning shows such as Dear Evan Hansen, The Lion King, Hamilton, Wicked and many more! As part of the choir membership you will have the opportunity to perform at a number of events and concerts throughout the year and to perform alongside professional west end signers and musicians at some of London’s most prestigious venues.

If you’re interested in joining Encore, you must first attend a taster session. During the taster session, you will attend a regular rehearsal and meet the rest of the choir. During the evening you will get a chance to join in with a typical encore rehearsal and get to know how the choir works before an informal chat with the MD. During this, they will take the opportunity to hear you sing 1-1 and assess your suitability for the group moving forwards. Following the taster, the MD and Head of Singing will inform you via email if you have been accepted and the next steps to becoming a member of City Academy Encore. WHO CAN JOIN?

City Academy Encore is a mixed singing group. The choir is open to men and women with any voice type who have at least some previous group singing experience.  The choir is not suitable for absolute beginners.

If you do not have the experience required, we recommend you complete a Beginners Singing and Level 2 Singing course before progressing to the choir.

REHEARSALS

In weekly rehearsals, you will develop in the following areas:

• Develop and refine vocal technique and dynamic choral performance including your onstage craft
• Explore and learn a variety of music from the West End & Broadway repertoire and increase your knowledge of this genre 
• Improve range, pitch, listening skills, sight reading, harmony & ensemble skills
• Build your confidence in singing onstage solo and as part of an ensemble within a friendly and dynamic community of singers
