Chime into your inner harmonies with our City Academy Voices Choir. Our exciting contemporary choir tests your vocal chords with a variety of music styles including classical, musical theatre, pop and gospel. Our choir is open to singers of all genders with any voice type and is a great way of meeting like-minded people in a creative environment.
Musical Director, Leigh Stanford Thompson, will refine your technique and improve your vocal ability as you meet weekly for rehearsal. Experience choir bliss as you perform twice a year on a London Stage.
If you’re interested in City Academy Voices, please join us for a taster session. During the taster, you will attend a regular drop in rehearsal and meet the rest of the group. Musical Director, Leigh Stanford Thompson, will also take the opportunity to hear you sing to assess your ability. Following the taster, our team will inform you via email if you have been accepted.

Rehearsals
In weekly rehearsals, you will develop in the following areas:
- Develop and refine vocal technique and dynamic choral performance
- Explore a variety of song genres and increase your repertoire knowledge
- Improve range, pitch and listening skills
- Learn about the vocal anatomy and build confidence

Who Can Join?
The City Academy Voices is open to anyone with some previous singing experience. The choir is not suitable for absolute beginners. If you don't have the experience required, we recommend you complete a Beginners Singing and Improvers Singing course before progressing to the choir.
We are always looking for new members - so if you have a love of performing and are looking to develop your vocal technique, please contact info@city-academy.com for more information.
As a member of the Voices, you don’t have to commit to every rehearsal evening, as we appreciate people have busy lives. However, putting on a choir show takes a lot of hard work, practise at home and commitment in order for it to be a success, so we do ask that you attend as many classes as you can.

Performances
City Academy Voices perform in showcases and larger scale productions each year at prestigious music venues across London. Additional performances for the choir may also include community projects and live music events.
Choir Director
The City Academy Voices is headed by Leigh Stanford Thompson.
Leigh is a composer, conductor and arranger with over two decades’ experience working with choirs, orchestras and singers around the world. As Musical Director for the City Academy Voices Leigh writes many arrangements and even some original compositions.
