The Intermediate course introduces more complex and demanding choreography, greater focus on performance dynamics, and a deeper exploration of contemporary techniques. While Improvers solidifies foundational skills, Intermediate challenges you with faster-paced phrases, detailed technical refinement, and more expressive interpretation.
This class is aimed at dancers with a strong grasp of contemporary technique—typically those who have completed several Improvers-level courses or have equivalent experience. It’s best suited to confident movers looking to push their physical and expressive abilities further.
You’ll explore advanced elements of contemporary styles such as Release, Graham, Cunningham, and Contact Improvisation, with an emphasis on fluidity, precision, and musicality. Expect longer sequences, more floorwork, and creative challenges.
Comfortable, close-fitting clothing that allows full range of movement is best—think leggings, fitted tops, and no loose jewellery. Most dancers work in bare feet or socks, depending on the studio floor.
Both. Each class typically includes technical warm-ups, set phrases across the floor or in centre, and time for improvisation or creative exploration, helping you develop both precision and personal style.
Yes, many dancers repeat Intermediate courses to continue progressing and refining their technique before moving on to advanced-level training.
