Filmmaking Foundation

Our Filmmaking Foundation courses is designed for beginners and those with a little experience to introduce the techniques required and instil the confidence needed to begin making your own short films. Our film foundation covers the key elements of the filmmaker. Members of this course form a close working crew to gain hands-on experience in planning, lighting, camera operating and editing.

Focusing on pre-production, production and post-production participants gain skills to plan, capture and edit everything needed to create a ‘course project’ short film completed by the end of the course.

Structured for those who want to access intensive practical film training, but can only commit to a part-time schedule. Led by our professional filmmaker, using current sound recording, lighting equipment and DSLR cameras the course is structured over ten x 2.5 hour weekly sessions and is located in central London.

• Week 4 - Working with actors, cheating the room, crew job roles
• Week 5 - Storyboards, shot list, planning and budgeting
• Week 6 - Moving camera kit and techniques
• Week 7 - Script writing, structure and your film
• Week 8 - Pre production of your script
• Week 9 - Filming night of your script
• Week 10 - Your film screening - editing overview - your next film and getting into festivals
