Originating in the clubs of New York and Chicago in the late 70s, House originally takes its inspiration from a number of disciplines including, Tap, African dance, Latin & Martial Arts.
Throughout our Shuffle Dance Classes, we make the connection between the style of House & its more modern relative - shuffle dance.
House and shuffle dance are social dance styles; so whether you are wanting to sharpen up your club moves, develop footwork and rhythm, or just sweat and have fun whilst learning something new, this course is for you.
House and Shuffle dance are great tools to develop balance, co-ordination, lower body strength, rhythm and musicality. Each week, through a combination of choreography, improvisation and fun exercises we will develop our vocabulary and confidence in House & Shuffle Dance.
Shuffle Dance Classes - What you'll achieve
- Develop a foundation of house dance and the dance vocabulary to match.
- Gain confidence improvising in shuffle and house.
- Explore techniques to develop rhythm and musicality.
- Develop a stronger proficiency for following choreography involving footwork.
- Gain an insight into the styles African, Tap and Latin and connect them to House dance.
- Develop an understanding of the social dance origins of house & shuffle dance and the surrounding music and cultures.
- Improve fitness and core body strength
As with all of our dance classes, you will be given friendly feedback and support from your tutor throughout the course.
