Dive further into the technique and fun style of Ballroom Jive. These 2-day Jazz Dance Intermediate lessons require previous experience in Jive, and we recommend that you complete our Beginners and Improvers courses (or equivalent) before joining.
Throughout the jive class, you will hone in on leading and following techniques to improve your confidence within the dance style. You will also learn move advanced steps, such as "Sailor Shuffle", "Stalking Walks Flicks into Break", "Chugging" and "Chicken Walks", as well as reviewing steps from previous courses.
Classes start with a warm up, followed by a focus on footwork technique. In the last 20 minutes of both classes you will learn a short routine, using the various steps and moves you have learnt, pushing and supporting your dance development.
JIVE DANCE INTERMEDIATE LESSONS CONTENT
During the course you will develop your dance technique and cover topics such as:
- Leading and following techniques
- Mastering more advanced steps, such as "Chugging" and "Chicken Walks"
- Jive dance routines
- Working on musicality
- Developing your confidence in dancing Jive
- Developing coordination and stamina
You will be given friendly feedback and support from your tutor throughout the course.

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
