CA Hosts: An Evening with DeObia Oparei was the first in our new series of events to provide City Academy students with insights and information that effectively demystify the arts industry. The evening took place at FORA Space in Farringdon on 26th March 2019.
The evening included an introduction by Hollywood actor and writer DeObia Oparei (Game of Thrones, Moulin Rouge!, Sex Education) on his inspiring story and career, followed by a Q&A and networking with City Academy students across our Acting, Writing and Filmmaking departments.
We're delighted to bring you gallery highlights, a selection of insights into the evening and feedback from our students. A note from our Head of Screen Acting, and host for the evening, Tom Colley:
"CA Hosts is a new venture that aims to provide City Academy students with insights and information that effectively demystify the arts industry. We hosted actor DeObia Oparei, whose enthused and motivational talk helped to shed light on questions that many audience members were desperate to have answered. Through these events we endeavour to inspire the next generation of exciting creative talent to be proactive, seek out new opportunities, start empowering conversations with like minded artists, and build bridges that will help them make the leap from student to professional."
Feedback from students:
Thank you so much DeObia Oparei for all your help and advice tonight - had an awesome evening!
A very inspirational speaker - what a star!
I hope in the future there're going to be more organised events like this, because it really feels good to meet people who share the same interest.
