Concisely communicate your creative writing in one simple pitch.
This one-day workshop will prioritise your goals by empowering you to speak up. Pitching a creative idea is a unique challenge. Unlike a business pitch, you can't always bring your worth back to a financial bottom line immediately. So, how do you persuade an investor, commissioner, publisher or agent to take a punt on you?
Opportunities can also present themselves when you least expect them or in a setting where a formal presentation with PowerPoint slides feels overkill. That's why it's essential to have a versatile set of tools that you can draw on quickly in a range of settings. Creative ideas are also often subjective, which means that what one person finds compelling, another may not. This can make it tricky to get everyone on board with your idea.
This course will help you craft a persuasive narrative and channel your passion in a way that leaves a positive impression. This course would be ideal for students who have completed scriptwriting or filmmaking courses, who need to engage with investors as part of their role or for anyone hoping to submit work in a creative industry or to an agent.
We will start by mapping out your vision on paper before moving to the verbal pitch. The objective of the course is, above all, to hone your technique in a live, pressured setting. You should come to this course prepared to speak in front of your classmates – secure in the knowledge that trial and error is how you (and everybody else) will learn and improve in this safe and welcoming environment. You can expect to leave with an improved ability to communicate your ideas effectively, as well as new-found confidence to roll with the punches.
