If you have ever wanted to write for the stage, our Playwriting Courses are a great starting point. Through weekly discussions and writing exercises you will explore the fundamentals of stagecraft. You will be exploring how to structure a story for a play, how to develop your characters, writing dialogue and how to make it work for a live audience.
Throughout our theatre writing course, you will work on your own scene from a larger play, or write a complete one-act play. As with all of our writing courses, your tutor will guide you through the process and give you friendly feedback.
Playwriting Courses Content
During the course you will:
- Develop core skills of how to write for theatre
- Explore stagecraft and what encompasses a play
- Identify approaches to story structure for the stage
- Learn about active characters and narrative arcs
- Explore dialogue and visual metaphors
- Learn to cultivate your voice as a playwright
As part of our playwriting workshops you will begin writing your own play, so try to come up with and idea you would like to work on before the start date.
