Where creativity meets ambition, City Academy x House of Create proudly presents Shadowa pioneering experience crafted for the visionaries of film and acting.

Spend 6 weeks diving deep into the essence of professional film production, from the script to the final cut. Shadow invites filmmakers and actors to immerse yourself in the art and science of movie-making, guided by some of the best in the business.

With Shadow, you can choose to master your craft and watch the crew in action, whether it's behind the camera or captivating audiences in front of it.

Create an ensemble based short film written by a new London writer and see you work come to life by attending a premier of the movie.

DURING THIS EXPERIENCE YOU WILL

  • Stand side by side with industry giants who've shaped some of the most iconic scenes across the big screen and the small. 
  • Behind the camera, Seize the opportunity to specialise in the department that fuels your passion. From cinematography to the precision of focus pulling. Test your skills and elevate them, during the production of a compelling short film.
  • In front of the camera - Become a leading actor through a casting process led by our distinguished production team. 
  • Embrace the chance to shine under the direction of an award-winning director, illuminated by an experienced DoP
  • Use some of the industry’s most revered equipment.

Duration

6 weeks for actors and 5 full days for crew members.

Entry Requirements

Actor places require an audition.For crew places, you must have completed at least an intermediate filmmaking course with us or equivalent elsewhere.

What to bring

A notebook and pen for actors. Wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in.

87% of missing persons over 16 will be found in the first two days, after which it gets harder, almost impossible.

When her family embark on the heart wrenching search for her, they'll face a society where girls like Zara are just not meant to be found.

OUR DIRECTOR - DAN LOWENSTIEN

Dan is a freelance director and producer, allowing him to build an extensive network of industry contacts. 

Since starting HoC Dan has directed numerous films including That’s Just Me starring Pixie Lott, Marie McGonigle & Anthony Kaye (Slow Horses, Dracula, Maleficent); Becoming Everything and Hubris starring Andrew Koji (Bullet Train, Warrior, Snake Eyes), Sweet Honey, SAFE, as well as most recently Desedirium a short charity film linked with Chasing The Stigma, starring Starring Angelo Dellicompagni, Tom Feasby and Annabelle Dowler (The Reckoning, Doctor Who, Emmerdale).

Dan’s most recent awards include - Best Director at CLIMAX film festival for Sweet Honey / Best Dance film at Planet Cinema for Sweet Honey / Best Director at IndieX film festival for That’s Just Me / Best Film at Accolade Global Film Competition for EGO / Best Director at Directors Notes for SAFE.

OUR ACTING COACH- TOBY WHARTON

Toby is an actor and filmmaker from South London, who graduated from RADA in 2007.

He has performed extensively in theatre, in productions such as ‘Home’, ‘My Brilliant Friend’ and ‘Medea’, all at the National Theatre. He co-wrote and played the title role in the critically acclaimed play, ‘FOG’, which toured the UK and ran at The Park Theatre. His screen credits include ‘Marcella’ for ITV, ‘The Aliens’ for Channel 4, ‘Call the Midwife’, ‘Rillington Place’ and ‘Silent Witness’ all for BBC. He recently wrote and directed the short film ‘Held’, funded by BFI Network and Exec produced by Joy Gharoro‐Akpojotor. Before going to RADA, Toby was an MC on the UK Garage music scene.
