The Studio Company is our premier musical theatre performance group, returning this Spring with performances of 'Sweet Charity'.
Previous productions include ‘Chicago’ 'In the Heights', 'Lend me a Tenor', 'Sweeney Todd', 'Urinetown', 'Into The Woods' and 'Company', all of which have played to sold-out audiences and rave reviews.
The group rehearses and performs in prestigious London theatre spaces. Rehearsals take place on Thursday, Friday and Sunday evenings over two months and the company aims to produce shows of the highest caliber possible.
You will work with a Director, a Musical Director and a Choreographer, all with extensive experience in professional theatre, to produce a show you will be incredibly proud of.

Should you be successful in joining the cast of Sweet Charity, the price for leads is £695 and the price for the ensemble is £595.
Rehearsal and Show details
Rehearsals start on Thursday 2 April and take place every Thursday and Friday evening from 7pm - 9.30pm and on Sunday evenings from 6pm - 8.30pm.
The production will take place at The Pleasance Theatre from Monday 25 - Saturday 30 May.
Audition process
First-round auditions are £5 and take place in the evening of Tuesday 10 March and Tuesday 17 March. Please only book one audition slot per person.
Recalls will take place on Sunday 22 March. The Studio Company is strictly by audition only. Auditions are held to form a new company for every specific production rather than for an ongoing group.
As well as leads, we also look for fantastic Ensemble members who are strong dancers with musicality and good harmony skills who can tackle harder dance breaks within the show. The Ensemble is an integral and vital part of the show.
If you cannot make the first round auditions, you are more than welcome to send in a video. Please sign up as normal for an audition slot and we will watch your video in that time slot. Videos should be emailed to rebecca@city-academy.com and the deadline date is 18th March
What to Prepare
For the first rounds on either 10 or 17 March, please arrive at the designated time on your booking and we will see you on a first-come first-served basis.
Please bring a Musical Theatre song in the style of the show or a song that really shows off your voice with a backing track on a device with a jack plug that we can plug into the sound system for the audition.
We will notify you via email that evening to let you know if you have a recall or not and if you do, you will be invited to view a dropbox that will have the audition materials from the show to prepare for 22nd March.
Please keep your whole day free on 22nd March should you be recalled.

Thrilled to be back to direct my third Studio Company show - Sweet Charity!
Our production will be quite unlike any that CA has seen before by taking all the best things from previous shows and adding in some pretty exciting new elements including…A REVOLVE! Yes that’s right, our Sweet Charity will be performed on a revolve (like Les Mis but MUCH smarter!) To make the most of this, we are using the same extraordinary set designer asChicago and having a similar ‘alternative’ take on the show, with lots of world building around our scenes.
With some like ‘Hey Big Spender’, ‘The Rhythm of Life’ and ‘If My Friends Could See Me Now’, I really hope to see lots of you at the auditions. The commitment is important but if you are in the main company there is no reason you can’t be in both. Sending lots of love and sweet vibes!

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
