Tango is a sophisticated and elegant dance created through a beautiful connection between partners moving together with the music. It is fiery, passionate and dramatic, yet the connection between the partners is one of softness and caring.
On our Tango Classes - Beginners based in central London, you will learn to dance appropriately to the emotion and dynamics of a tango, which is an extremely important element to learning tango. A good dancer is one who transmits the musicality and rhythm from the music to their dance, which is one of the key aims of these classes.
At City Academy, our tango lessons focus on Argentine Tango.
Tango Classes - Beginners Content
In our Tango Classes - Beginners, you will learn the basics of Tango, including:
- Improving your posture and specifically the 'Close Embrace' to be able to dance in partnership and in good tango frame.
- Learning good technique to follow a lead and follow a partner
- Basic Walk, Change of Weight, Forward and Backward Ochos, Calesitas, Media Luna or half giros are some of the basics that will be taught on our course
- Learning how to develop the ability to transform simple basic tango steps into articulated sequences with rich decoration and embellishment

Our Tango for Beginners Lessons are perfect for those with little or no experience, or those who have taken a few classes before. You will receive friendly feedback throughout, and you don’t need to bring a partner to join any of our tango classes.
