Our Traditional Tango Company at City Academy brings the passion and elegance of Argentine Tango to the stage. The majority of the sequences used in the choreography can be used directly in social tango.
The choreography is simply an eye catching version of the passionate dance form that Argentine Tango already is.
Our Tango Company rehearse weekly with performances throughout the year both on stage and in the middle of London's Milongas.
HOW TO JOIN?
If you’re interested in joining the Tango Dance Company you can simply book a class starting soon in the timetable below. In the class you’ll take part in a regular company rehearsal in a relaxed setting, giving you the perfect chance to meet the group in action. Following the class, we’ll email with an invitation to join the company or give suggestions for further training. The purpose of the session is so that you can meet the Company Director as well as get an idea of what membership entails and the level of performance involved.
Membership provides the opportunity to perform at a number of events throughout the year. This includes dedicated shows as well as performing as guests at some of City Academy’s other events.
Traditional Tango Company Rehearsals
As you rehearse with our Tango Company, you will gain skills in these areas:
- Solid technique behind various advance sequences and figures in Argentine Tango
- Interpretation of Tango music at an advanced level
- Build a good Tango posture and improve your confidence with Tango
- Learn technique exercises to make your Tango more elegant
- Learn group choreography and how to work in sync with the group
- Build and Improve physical fitness

Who Can Join?
Our Tango Dance Company is for those who have completed Improvers Level Tango at City Academy, the equivalent, or who have experience in Tango performance. To be accepted into our Tango Company, we ask you to take an introductory tango class first.
Performances
Our Tango Company perform twice a year at the City Academy Winter and Spring Dance showcases. There will also be multiple opportunities to perform in the middle of London's popular Milongas.

Company Director
The company director, Winston Veerender has been part of many Tango performances especially for performances catered towards students of Tango. He brings this experience to teach students in a methodical and progressive manner to create slick performances.
Membership & Benefits
Tango Company Membership
The membership fee is £60.00 per month and is charged for 12 months of the year. There is a minimum membership period of 3 months. This will cover you for all rehearsals and shows for the duration of your membership. (Note: Additional cost for costumes will be decided amongst the company each year and will be kept at a minimum.)
If you wish to cancel your membership please email info@city-academy.com with 14 days' notice to your next payment date.

Company members are welcoming, passionate and sociable. We are always looking for new members - so if you have a love of performing and are looking to develop your tango technique, book an introductory class to see whether the Company is right for you.

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
