Abigail Welford

Abigail is the Head of our Musical Theatre Department. Abigail performed professionally as a child and at 16 was then awarded the Gillian Lynne scholarship to train at Bird College. After graduating, Abi travelled the world performing on the MV Aurora, Oriana, and Oceana she performed as a guest entertainer and in the Prestigious Theatre company’s in various shows including Elvis, Wicked and Rave On, she was also dance Dance captain and co directed. She performed in various Uk,West End tours Including The naked truth, Annie, Fosse and Stepping out. Abi has played principal girl in over 11 leading pantomimes across the Uk including Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Snow White. She has had various TV & Commercial Credits including Sony, Lynx, GMTV, Maria BBC.

She is an experienced Dance, Drama , Vocal and Musical Theatre teacher running her own successful stage school for 12 years where she directed and produced many productions including We Will Rock You, Shrek & Matilda. Abi compares at various large corporate events across the UK and also adjudicates at regional dance competitions and festivals. 

Abi has closely followed the Musical theatre department at City Academy over the past 10 years and is extremely excited to work with such an amazing team of creatives and talented students.
