Trish discovered the piano aged 3 and was totally hooked. It took four years of persistent begging for her parents to acquire a piano and she has been playing the piano ever since. Coming from a musical Cornish family, singing and making music are deeply engrained in Trish. Her mother was a BBC Singer and her father an amateur jazz pianist who couldn’t read a note!
Studying music at Goldsmiths’ College in the mid 1980s was a heady experience in what was the biggest university music department in the UK at that time and Trish dabbled with composition as well as double first study in Piano and Flute.
After a career in Public Relations and Public Affairs in the construction industry, she returned to teaching piano in 2015 and has embraced modern piano teaching pedagogy with enthusiasm. Trish is passionate about overturning the stuffy, strict and sometimes scary experiences that many adults had at childhood piano lessons and bringing joy, intelligent engagement and creativity to her students’ lessons. Piano Pedagogy has mercifully moved on hugely and she keeps abreast of latest developments through her commitment to piano teaching and musicianship continuing professional development.
“I love introducing people to the joys of music making through playful, engaging learning. I embrace all learning styles and am myself a life long learner.”
