With weekly evening rehearsals and regular in-studio showcases throughout the year, our Diva Dance Company aims to be one of the most exciting diva groups in London.
WHO CAN JOIN?
The Diva Dance Company is for those who have completed a Diva or Street Dance course at City Academy, the equivalent, or who have experience in diva dance performance.
HOW TO JOIN
If you’re interested in joining the Diva Dance Company simple book a class starting soon in the timetable below. In the class you’ll take part in a regular company rehearsal in a relaxed setting, giving you the perfect chance to meet the rest of the group in action. Following the class, we’ll email with an invitation to join the company or suggestions for further training. The purpose of the session is so that you can meet the Company Director as well as get an idea of what membership entails and the level of performance involved.
Company members are welcoming, passionate and sociable. We are always looking for new members - so if you have a love of performing and are looking to develop your diva technique, book a class here and join the company for a fun evening rehearsal.
COMPANY MEMBERSHIP
The membership fee is £80 per month and is charged for 12 months of the year. There is a minimum membership period of 3 months. This will cover you for weekly classes for the duration of your membership. (Note: Additional cost for costumes will be decided amongst the company each year and will be kept at a minimum.)
If you wish to cancel your membership please email info@city-academy.com with 14 days’ notice to your next payment date.
Rehearsals
In weekly diva dance rehearsals you will develop and work on:
- Develop Diva dance technique (with and without heels), including kicks, turns, and isolations
- Master a sassy and sultry dance style
- Explore a variety of styles inspired by Beyonce, Rihanna, Britney, Lady Gaga and more
- Learn challenging choreography and performance technique
- Build confidence and learn dynamics of performing
- Connect with likeminded people and be a part of our community

Who can join?
The Diva Company is aimed at students who are proficient dancers. They must have previous performance experience, have taken a Diva Dance class (preferably within the last 6 months) with relatively strong dancing technique. Due to the need to strut-your-stuff, confidence in heels is also a must!
Diva Company Membership

Company Director
The company is led by experienced Dancer and Performer, Lorraine Harvey. Lorraine has been teaching Diva Dance at City Academy for several years, and is a prolific performer who has been involved in musicals, shows and pantomimes both in the UK and abroad.
Lorraine Harvey started dance classes at the age of 5 at her local dance school in Scotland. Growing up she was part of Jazz Art UK youth dance company, and was one of the chosen few to be granted a summer scholarship to train at Alvin Ailey and Steps on Broadway, New York.
After moving to London to train full time at Laine Theatre Arts, she graduated with a diploma in Theatre Dance.
Since then Lorraine has been involved in various musicals, shows and pantomimes in the UK and abroad as a performer and choreographer.
As a diva dance tutor, Lorraine enjoys creating a positive and welcoming environment for her students in class and wants everyone to have an amazing time whilst learning. She is thrilled to be part of the City Academy team!

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
